STAMP COLLECTING: THE FIRST CLASS HOBBY THAT HAS THE MARKETS LICKED

STAMP collecting is enjoying a resurgence at home as baby boomers revive their childhood hobby.
It is also seeing growing interest abroad, particularly among the Chinese who are not only interested in China’s domestic stamps, but also British rarities such as the Penny Black.

It is good news for Stanley Gibbons which remains the world’s pre-eminent name in stamp collecting.

Britons were the first to get the stamp collecting bug, but it is good news for the company that the Chinese have followed suit.

We should be delighted at their enthusiasm for what was once regarded as a peculiarly British hobby.

After all, imitation is the sincerest form of philately.
